Updates

Arrival of animals

Cows, sheep and horses will begin to arrive tomorrow (Friday 24th April 2026).

Please keep dogs on leads and ensure that animals are not ‘worried’ in any way.

New legislation has been introduced which is designed to protect grazing animals and we will be liaising with the Police to ensure that animals and people alike can enjoy the Pastures in harmony and without any unnecessary issues.

To allow the young cows time to adjust to their new home for the Summer, it is advised that they are given space when possible.

Speed Limits

As a timely reminder to motorists, please observe speed limits across the Pastures and remember to allow for crossing animals.

DOG HEALTH ALERT

Please look out for suet/fat ball type pellets left on the Pasture reported in the Westwood Road, Hill Sixty area. If ingested by dogs, it can lead to severe diarrhoea and other  complications.

PLEASE DO NOT DISCARD OR DROP ANY MATERIAL NON NATIVE TO THE AREA

Bicycles / Motorcycles

Please be aware that a strict ‘NO CYCLING’ and ‘NO MOTOR VEHICLES’ rule applies to the commons (without authorisation)

Reports have been received that bike courses have been dug in Burton Bushes which has obvious implications for the Flora/Fauna and wildlife within a site of special scientific interest.

Hedge Laying

In support of our commitment to conservation,  we would welcome any persons or groups that would be interested in hedge laying activity on the Pastures. Please make contact via the enquiries page on the website.

Golf Club Alterations

Work is currently being undertaken by the Golf Club to move some of the tees and holes near Newbald Road. The old holes and tees will be returned to pasture.

Parking Issues

The recent installation of wooden posts on York Road have prevented all day parking on York Road near to Seven Corners Lane.

The Pasture Masters would like to remind members of the Public that parking on the Pastures including Westwood is restricted to FOUR hours only .
